Description

Sodium acetate is an organic sodium salt containing an acetate. It is a hygroscopic powder and highly soluble in water. It can be used for additives in food, industry, concrete production, heating pads and in buffer solutions. When put into water, it forms sodium ions (Na+) and acetate ions.

Sodium acetate may be slightly irritating to the eyes and skin. When it decomposes when heated or in contact with a strong acid, there is a danger of producing acetic acid fumes.
