ADR & Limited Quantity

Some substances offered in our webshop fall under ADR or Limited Quantity. This means additional rules apply to transport regarding packaging, labelling and shipping. On this page, we briefly explain what ADR and Limited Quantity mean for your order and any return shipment.

What is ADR

ADR is the European regulation for the transport of dangerous goods by road. Substances may fall under ADR when, for example, they are flammable, corrosive, oxidising, toxic or otherwise dangerous during transport.

ADR products are subject to additional requirements for packaging, labelling, documentation and transport. As a result, some products cannot be shipped via a standard parcel carrier and specialised transport is required.

What is Limited Quantity (LQ)

Limited Quantity, abbreviated LQ, means that a dangerous substance is transported in limited quantities. This is only permitted when the product, packaging and quantity meet the conditions set out in the ADR regulations.

Limited Quantity shipments are subject to less strict transport requirements than full ADR transport, but the shipment must still be correctly packaged and marked. Whether a product may be shipped as LQ depends, among other things, on the substance, the UN number, the hazard class and the maximum contents per package.

Additional costs for specialised transport

At DutchChems, we apply a standard shipping fee of €6.95 for every order. If you order €50 or more, this standard fee is waived.

For Limited Quantity shipments, we usually do not charge a separate surcharge. For full ADR transport, additional costs may apply because specialised transport or additional handling may be required. Any surcharges are calculated automatically and included directly in the total amount shown during checkout.

Returns of ADR and Limited Quantity Products

ADR and Limited Quantity products are generally excluded from returns. These products may not be returned via a regular parcel carrier, a standard return label or without prior instructions.

A return shipment still involves the transport of dangerous goods. The shipment must therefore comply with the applicable ADR and LQ requirements for packaging, labelling, marking and carrier acceptance.

For business orders, ADR and Limited Quantity products are excluded from returns unless we agree otherwise in writing in advance.

For consumer orders, returns are only possible when this is legally and practically feasible. In that case, we arrange the return transport ourselves through a suitable carrier. The costs for collecting and transporting the return shipment are payable by the customer and must be paid in advance.

Opened, damaged or incorrectly sealed packaging will not be accepted for return.
