What is acetic acid 80%?

Acetic acid is an organic acid with a characteristic vinegar-like odor. At a concentration of 80% the product is highly concentrated and corrosive. It is completely miscible with water and can generate heat when diluted.

Acetic acid 80% is intended for professional and technical use only. For less concentrated applications, the product must be diluted in a controlled manner.

Dilute and use

Dilute acetic acid 80% only with water. Always add the acetic acid slowly to the water, not the other way around. This limits splashing and heat development.

  • Dilution 1:10: gives approximately 8% acetic acid.
  • Dilution 1:4: suitable for applications where a higher concentration is required.

Do not use undiluted acetic acid 80% on calcareous natural stone, such as marble, travertine or limestone. If in doubt, always test on an inconspicuous spot first.

Storage and security

Store acetic acid 80% cool, tightly closed and in a well-ventilated place. Keep the product separated from bases, oxidizing agents and other incompatible substances.

Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as acid-resistant gloves, protective clothing, eye protection and face protection. Avoid contact with skin and eyes and only work in a well-ventilated environment.
